Peter Klaaseen B.Mus.
Double Bass
Peter holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of Toronto and has been teaching for 9 years. He is passionate about helping students develop a lifelong vehicle for artistic expression through music.
Peter’s teaching focuses on what he calls “fluency”—building a strong foundation of technique and ear training so students can confidently explore the vocabulary and stylistic nuances of the music they love. His approach emphasizes learning to trust and interpret the musical feedback we receive from our ears, heart, and body, allowing students to grow both technically and artistically.
Understanding that musical study can be both challenging and deeply personal, Peter strives to connect with each student’s unique interests, motivation, and creative goals. He supports not only the craft of instrumental study, but each student’s personal artistic journey.
Peter hopes his students develop a daily practice of playing, listening, and ear training—habits that foster curiosity and a lasting love of music.
Outside the studio, Peter performs regularly in Americana, bluegrass, and folk ensembles, as well as in Classical music settings, bringing a rich range of experience into his teaching.
