Cassie Nielsen is a passionate clarinetist and dedicated educator with over seven years of teaching experience. She holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Most recently, she served as interim second clarinet with the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
Cassie’s career centers around orchestral and chamber music, with a strong focus on teaching. In lessons, she emphasizes the fundamentals of clarinet playing, using etudes and repertoire to build technique and musicality. She takes a personalized approach, tailoring each lesson to the student’s interests to keep learning enjoyable and meaningful.
Above all, Cassie is passionate about making classical music accessible and relatable. She strives to help her students not only grow as musicians but also discover the joy, expression, and freedom that come from making music. Her teaching instills discipline, consistency, and a deep appreciation for the artistic process.
