Kannan Bloor

Saxophone

Kannan Bloor is a Canadian classical saxophonist and educator. Specializing in solo saxophone repertoire, Kannan is a frequent participant in local music festivals, winning awards at the Kiwanis Music Festival and first place at the Ontario Music Festivals Association Provincial Competition (2021). Beyond his solo playing, he shows versatility in his ensemble work, with experience as a member of the University of Toronto Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, and Saxophone Chamber Ensembles, the Toronto Wind Youth Orchestra, and the Ontario Provincial Honour Band.

 

Kannan has worked as a private contractor for the Queen's Own Rifles Band of the Canadian Armed Forces since 2022, and regularly performs with them in marching and static band settings. He teaches saxophone and clarinet at the Newton’s Grove School campus, of which he is an alumnus. Notably, Kannan has had the opportunity to work with world-class saxophonists such as Vincent David (Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles), Dr. Nathan Nabb (Stephen F. Austin State University), Professor Masato Kumoi (Kunitachi College of Music Graduate School), Dr. John W. Sampen (Bowling Green State University), and more.

Kannan is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree in Saxophone Performance at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Dr. Wallace Halladay.
